The Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC is specifically designed for Canon EF mounts, offering an impressive T1.5 maximum aperture for low light photography and shallow depth field effect. Boasting an eight-blade diaphragm, it delivers pleasing out-of-focus areas (bokeh). It is optimized for video production, featuring de-clicked aperture control for smooth exposure transitions and gear rings compatible with follow focus systems. The manual focus lens has enhanced marks for distance and aperture settings visible from the side, aiding focus pullers. With a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 feet, this lens maintains a constant angle-of-view when changing focus. The optical structure includes 9 elements in 6 groups with one aspherical element and a hybrid aspherical element to minimize aberrations, while a multicoating on the lens elements boosts light transmission, cutting down on flare and ghosting. A 77mm filter thread is also present. Samyang's VDSLR series ensures uniformity in positioning of gear rings, consistent color rendering, and convenience with matching focus scales on both sides for dual-sided adjustments.
