Description

CANON F-1 with two lens kit. The Canon F-1 is a 35 mm single-lens reflex camera produced by Canon in Japan from 1971 until 1981. The TTL metering on the Canon F-1 is a remarkable feature. The photocell is neither in the finder prism nor behind the SLR mirror, but on the side of the focusing screen, which directs a fraction of the light to it. In this way the meter works independently of the attached finder, dramatically simplifying the viewfinders as well as the metering system in the camera. The exposure meter uses the 1.35 volt mercury battery, which fortunately may be replaced, using an ordinary hearing aid battery that is cheap and plentiful. On the finder prism that slides on and off has one of the release buttons stuck. The button is stuck down on one side but the finder slides on and off like it should and locks in place with one button. I shot a roll of film through the camera and the meter is working fine as I got 36 good exposures. The kit includes a very sturdy camera body and a wonderful Canon 55mm F1.2 S.S.C. breach mount lens as well as a 100-200 f/5.6 push-pull breach mount lens very well made. The glass on the 55mm lens is very clean and although the lens has been well used seems to be in good condition. Some of the rubber on the focusing ring is cracked in places but it's not moving, and the ring turns very smoothly. I could not see any fungus or haze in this lens shining a flashlight through it. Please see the 3 images I shot with the 55mm f1.2 although I did not shoot the lens at f1.2. The Zoom Lens is also very clean with no fungus or haze inside the lens. The push-pull lens design is very smooth to zoom in and out. You can tell the lens is very well made of all metal with a rubberized focusing grip. Although it's slow wide open at 5.6 it's still relatively sharp at f/5.6. Please see my example of the old house with the tree where shot at f/5.6.
