ARRI's 40mm Master Prime lens is part of a collection of 16 superior lenses, crafted in association with Zeiss. This lens offers exceptional resolution, enhanced contrast, minimal breathing, and a fast T1.3 aperture - perfect for achieving a shallow depth of field. The Master Prime lenses span from 12mm to 150mm and deliver the renowned skin tones and color rendition characteristic of Zeiss, all while maintaining color consistency throughout the set. These lenses feature an iris with a minimum of nine blades, ensuring cinematic bokeh effects and a smooth focus transition. Dual floating elements ensure top-notch close-focus performance and minimalize breathing during focusing. The T*XP coating reduces glare and reflections while enriching contrast.
Aspherical elements have been incorporated into the design of the ARRI/Zeiss Master Primes to reduce chromatic aberration, ensuring superior image quality and clean chroma-keying. High resolution is retained in image corners, even when using the lens with wide aperture and close focus. Each lens is equipped with a PL mount and an inbuilt LDS system to transfer lens data to compatible cameras. The expansive focus scale offers ample space for marks and features fluorescent engravings for ease of use in dimly lit circumstances. The focus ring features measurements in both imperial and metric units; the ring can be reversed from one measurement system to the other by a qualified technician.
This 40mm Master Prime Lens comes with a minimum focus distance of 16", metric focus marks, a lightweight design of 5.1 pounds, and a compact length of 8". The consistent placement of focus, iris, and zoom rings across the Master Prime lenses facilitates the use of follow focus, zoom control, and F/I/Z wireless systems. Most lenses in the Master Prime series, including the 40mm, have a uniform 114mm front diameter, making it possible to use the same size matte box adapter, filter, etc.
